American Heart Association Says No to Quick Weight Loss
If you are continuously following fad diets, in a search to find a way to achieve quick weight loss, then you may be interested to hear what the American Heart Association has to say on the subject. They are concerned that many diets offering quick weight loss are misleading, and believe that diets such as the Cabbage Soup Diet can cause flatulence, damage your health, and lead to a great deal of disappointment, as you often put the weight back on again, sometimes more than before.
Quick weight loss diets often violate the basics of sound nutrition because they usually put a great deal of emphasis on one type of food, or a particular one, as seen in the Cabbage Soup Diet. If you continue with this type of diet for several weeks your body will become deficient in certain nutrients.
The cabbage soup diet contains mainly fruits and vegetables, and it is a diet promoted in some instances to help heart patients to lose weight before surgery. However the American Heart association considers you should eat sensible amounts of foods, from all the groups. They say there are no super foods, and implementing permanent healthy eating habits is far better for your health than pursuing quick weight loss diets. They do not consider you can lose those surplus pounds in just a few days.
Another problem with quick weight loss diets is that they are boring, monotonous and make it impractical to stay on them for any length of time. This is why so many are doomed before you begin. On the other hand a good diet can be eaten for the rest of your life and it will maintain your health, and ideal weight.
If you want to lose weight and remain healthy, then a diet plan must include exercise, many quick weight loss diets do not.
According the American Heart Association, the best way to lose weight is by eaten a diet containing fresh fruits and vegetables, low-fat dairy products, whole grains and fiber, plus regular physical activity.
