Detox Diet - Lose Weight
A detox diet is designed to spring clean your body to rid it of the excess waste and toxins, which have built up over the years. The cause of this build up is the modern day pollutants in the foods you eat, by smoking, the household products you use, and those naturally present in the air and water.
A detox diet will bring control back into your life, restoring natural balance, to help you lose weight, gain energy and reach your peak of health.
A detox diet gives your body the ultimate combination of foods and all extreme and refined and processed foods are excluded. No additives are allowed and nothing should be taken away, all food will be eaten in as unprocessed and natural a state as possible.
As well as excluding all foods, which are considered bad for your body, you need to include foods that are not often eaten, or not well-known for their health giving benefits, such as rice cakes, sprouted seeds and beans, dried fruit, beetroot, raw vegetables, garlic, potassium rich foods and hummus.
The detox diet will also be full of foods whose value we are generally more aware of, such as fresh fruit, fish, water, pulses, fresh vegetables, and herbal teas.
The length of a detox diet can vary and will depend on whether you have detoxed before, the time available and how it fits in with your everyday life. For example: A weekend detox diet is ideal if it is your first time or other commitments do not allow you to do so in the week, whereas a fourteen day or longer detox is more suited to someone well experienced with this type of diet.
A detox diet can be supported with other methods that contribute to the efficiency of your kidneys, liver, lymph glands and circulation, as there are numerous complementary ways to accelerate the detox process. These include dry skin brushing, exercise, magnesium bathing, self-massage techniques, posture, breathing techniques and aromatherapy oils.
It is important to prepare yourself mentally before you embark on a detox diet. You can do this by writing down the benefits you hope to achieve, so that these objectives will keep you focused throughout this time.
