Switch to A Low Fat Diet

Switching to a low fat diet may be the answer to losing weight, especially if you crave sugar. Perhaps life was not meant to be easy for the majority, as the experts till us that it is virtually impossible to get rid of a “sweet tooth”, and that if you crave for sugars, you may battle with this all your life.

However, it is not so difficult to switch to a low fat diet.  When you replace fat with flavor, your desires change, and consequently, you will lose weight. Once you start substituting your high fat diet, with low fat food items, and lean cuts of meat, your body quickly adjusts, and very soon you will no longer be able to stomach those fried doughnuts, or onion rings.

The transition from a fatty, to a non-fat or low fat diet can be helped along the way, by adding fresh herbs to season you dishes.  When preparing a salad, try a squeeze of fresh lemon or lime juice, instead or high fat mayonnaise and salad dressings.

Of all the nutrients, fat contains the most calories, as it is the most energy dense, for example, each gram of fat contains nine calories, while protein has four calories per gram, and carbohydrate, under four calories per gram.

However when you change from a high fat to a low fat diet, it does not give you license to eat anything with the right label on it, you must still give calories some consideration, and try to limit white sugar where possible.

This is because, regardless of the type of diet you follow, in order to lose weight, you have to eat fewer calories, so that you create an energy deficit in order for your body to start using up its fat stores.

You should aim to acquire between twenty and twenty five percent of your calorie intake from fat, any lower than this and you will probably start to feel moody and rundown.

You low fat lifestyle should also include exercise, plenty of fiber and sufficient water.
