Weight Loss Supplement
A weight loss supplement little known in the West is Agar-agar. It is a gelatinous substance, which is obtained from many varieties of seaweed. When added to water, it swells, increasing it original volume many times over.
As well as being a weight loss supplement it is extremely healthy for you. It has a high amount of fiber and is rich in marine nutrients, iodine, calcium and iron. It is a colorless, transparent, odorless gel that has no calories, you can mix with water or milk, and you can even eat it as a substitute desert, with fruit. As this weight loss supplement swells in water, it makes you feel fuller quicker and also aids digestion.
Another weight loss supplement, which is obtained from health-giving seaweeds, is Fucoxanthin. It is a Rich source of iodine, which controls the metabolic rate. This is the speed at which your body burns sugars and fats to release energy.
Fucoxanthin is derived from an edible brown seaweed known in Japan as Wakame. The Japanese have published a study showing that it can promote fat burning in the cells of animals. Animals lost between five and ten percent of their body weight. This weight loss supplement fights fat using two mechanisms.
First Fucoxanthin seems to fuel a protein, UCP1, which causes fat oxidation and converts energy into heat. This protein is originated in white adipose tissue. This is the kind of fat found surrounding internal organs and it is related to diabetes and heart disease. It is this type of fat that is responsible for the weight gain more commonly known as middle-age spread.
Secondly, this weight loss supplement encourages the liver to manufacture DHA. This is a type of omega-3 fatty acid. Research indicates that omega-3 helps you lose weight, by regulating your blood-sugar levels and balancing your appetite.
